RESEARCH INTERESTS
My primary research interests are related to the psychologies of uncertainty, expectation, and health (particularly end-of-life concerns) and include:
I have experience with studies run online, in lab, and in healthcare settings, and I worked for several years as a research assistant in a government agency where I gained experience with in-depth interviews, focus groups, program evaluation, and archival data collection. My statistical training and experience includes general and multivariate statistics, regression, meta-analysis, structural equation modeling, and longitudinal data analysis. My goal is to share in the cultivation, dissemination, and application of knowledge by extending my current program of research in both basic and applied settings.
RESEARCH INTERESTS
My primary research interests are related to the psychologies of uncertainty, expectation, and health (particularly end-of-life concerns) and include:
- Improving how people manage periods of uncertainty and difficult life transitions
- Encouraging future-focused planning and preparation behaviors (e.g., disaster preparedness, advance care planning)
- Improving patient-provider communication related to uncertainty, risk, expectations, and difficult topics
- Encouraging preventive health behaviors and motivating health behavior change
- Understanding and improving decision-making at the end of life (e.g., hospice, palliative care, quality of life considerations)
- Investigating simple interventions to improve decision-making and the experience of uncertainty
